Introduction
Aether Focus (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our iOS and watchOS applications (collectively, the “App”).
Our Core Privacy Principle: Your data stays on your device. We don’t collect, store, or access your personal information on our servers—because we don’t have any servers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Aether Focus is designed with privacy at its core. We do not:
- Collect personal information
- Require account creation
- Use analytics or tracking tools
- Display advertisements
- Sell or share your data with third parties
- Upload your data to our servers (we don’t have any)
- Use cookies or similar tracking technologies
Information Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s secure frameworks (SwiftData, UserDefaults, and App Groups):
Focus Session Data
- Session start times and durations
- Completion status
- Optional session names
Captured Thoughts
- Text content of thoughts you capture during sessions
- Timestamps
- Auto-assigned categories (Task, Note, Idea, etc.)
- Dispatch status (if sent to Reminders/Notes)
App Preferences
- Timer duration preferences
- Enabled ADHD feature settings
- HealthKit opt-in status
- Appearance settings
Health Data (Optional)
If you opt in to HealthKit integration:
- Mindfulness session data is written to Apple Health
- We only write to HealthKit; we do not read your health data
How Your Data Is Used
All data processing happens on your device:

Data Sharing and Third-Party Integration
Apple System Apps (With Your Permission)
You may choose to dispatch captured thoughts to:
- Apple Reminders — Creates reminders in your default list
- Apple Notes — Creates notes in your chosen folder
- Apple Health — Logs mindfulness minutes (opt-in)
Important: Data is shared only with these Apple apps when you explicitly choose to dispatch a thought. We do not access your existing Reminders, Notes, or Health data.
Speech Recognition
Voice transcription uses Apple’s on-device Speech framework. Your voice is:
- Processed locally on your device
- Never transmitted to our servers
- Never stored after transcription
No Other Third Parties
We do not integrate with:
- Analytics services (Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising networks
- Social media platforms
- Cloud storage providers
- Any external servers
Data Retention and Deletion
Automatic Deletion
Captured thoughts are designed to be transient:
- Once dispatched to Reminders/Notes, the original capture is deleted from Aether Focus
- Undispatched captures remain until you manually delete them
Manual Deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- Individual captures: Swipe to delete in the captures list
- All app data: Delete and reinstall the app
- Health data: Manage via Apple Health app
App Uninstallation
Uninstalling Aether Focus removes all locally stored data from your device.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data:
- On-device storage: Data never leaves your device except to Apple system apps you authorize
- Apple’s security: We rely on iOS’s built-in security (encryption at rest when device is locked)
- No network transmission: The app functions entirely offline
Children’s Privacy
Aether Focus is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us to delete it.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under privacy laws such as GDPR (EU) or CCPA (California). Because we don’t collect or store your personal data on our servers, most data rights can be exercised by:
- Access: View all your data within the app
- Deletion: Delete individual items or uninstall the app
- Portability: Export via Reminders/Notes dispatch
- Correction: Edit captures before dispatch

Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
- Displaying a notice in the app when significant changes occur

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. Because Aether Focus does not collect personal information as defined by CCPA, the following disclosures apply:

- Processing is necessary for the performance of our contract with you (providing the App’s functionality)
- Some processing is based on your consent (e.g., HealthKit integration, speech recognition)
- You may withdraw consent at any time in Settings
Data Transfers:
- All data remains on your device within the EEA
- No international data transfers occur
